Effective and Good Geographical Location
As you all know,India is in the continent of Asia and is right between two main airport hubs, the Middle East and south east Asia.India is also between two major stopover destination which are south-east Asia and the Middle East.As for India,it’s geographical location puts itself pretty close to Europe with the time of 9-11 hours from Mumbai or Delhi to any European city. This would also accumulate traffic from the Middle East going towards major hubs in Southeast Asia like Singapore and Beijing. This would also lead to passengers paying lower prices than they used to.
How Can Indian Airlines Help If India Becomes A Stopover Country
Something very much needed to make this happen in India are good reliable Indian carriers.Like how the Middle East have Qatar,Ethiad,Emirates etc and Southeast Asia have Singapore airlines,Thai etc.As of now India has mails two reliable airlines which are Indigo and Vistara, rest all airlines are struggling in terms of services and money.Vistara has recently got the B-787 which will now takeover the role of jet airways.Vistara will fly to Australia,Europe etc. This may help for the stopovers in Indian cities.Indigo and SpiceJet can also help by giving low prices instead of paying high for Vistara.
Conclusion
India can become a major stopover hub but only if it receives support from the government maybe and if they are willing to give visa on arrival or something that will make the transit easier for the passengers which will take time to get into action. All of this will require collaboration and coordination which travel agencies ,airports, builders and many more people too.But it may take place in these Corning years.
