just like many other countries India is also planning to have their own Air Force Aircraft for VVIPS of The Indian Government. This will transport people like the President of India, The prime minister of India. The airliners were initially Air India’s, but then Air India opted to give them permanently to The Indian Air Force, the aircraft’s were 2 777-300ERS.
The Past Of VVIP Aircrafts In India
The government of India did have a plane but not from the Indian Air Force like other countries. It was from Air India. The aircraft from Air India was a 747-400. It was a commercial plane but is mainly used for the government of India. Now the government of India will have its own Air India one similar to the Air Force one like other countries.
The airline was initially Air India’s 777-300ER, but now it’s Air India one regarding air India. However, the new 777s will feature an upgraded livery, with only the word “India” painted in English and Hindi, with the country’s emblem in the centre. The tail also features an Indian flag, reminiscent of Air Force One. The new livery, and the sale of air India, has led some to believe that the government is looking to drop the Air India One callsign. However, it is unclear what this would be replaced with if it does decide to change. We will likely find out when the plane is delivered next month.
Additionally Added Equipment’s
Security measures worth $190m have been added for safety and protection.
While the new VIP planes are an expensive project, with nearly $780m earmarked, they do offer the government officials with the much-needed security when travelling. The aircraft is due to arrive in July, and we are excited to see India’s new VIP planes in action!
